You don't have to sell a product to make money online

Geez, it's getting harder for me to get going in the mornings. While I generally stick to a routine, I'm finding it more difficult to do this with 66 degree (F) mornings. I appreciate weather and when it's not 105, I like to enjoy it with a big cup of coffee and something interesting to read.

Ok, I'm only 36 and I'm beginning to sound like my dad… LOL!

Anyway, today's post it to tell you that many of the wealthiest people online don't sell anything. They have no infoproduct, they don't even know what 'Clickbank' is (and any 'Super Affiliate' touting the greatness of Clickbank is borderline idiot… just look at the refund rate on any popular product in that marketplace. Yep, if you just looked, you will see it's OVER 50%… not to mention the extremely high fees. If you give me the bullshit that you tap into an affiliate army, then you obviously don't know how to recruit affiliates on your own. Rant over.)

My point is that those selling 'traffic' often rule the roost.

Let's look at this. ALL Web 2.0 properties are purely traffic/advertising plays and any one of them that you are familiar with is worth MEGA BUCKS. None sell anything… other than usability and experience.

There are few 'infopublishers' that can rival the success of this model.

So how can one go about taking advantage of this model if you don't already have traffic, Web 2.0 knowledge, or anything like that?

The simply follow along with what a 17 yr old girl would do…

Create a software product that fills a mass need, give it away for free, and monetize your traffic with advertising inventory.

Hey, it sounds simple, but it requires some non- 'infopublishing' thought processes. For one, you're goal is traffic, not sales. Sustainable traffic requires an evergreen product. An evergreen product requires knowledge of the marketplace and that requires research.

Youtube is stil losing money.

OK it is not hard, but I'd not say it is simple. The 17 year ol gal made it by accident and passion, plus SHE belongs to the group she is targetting.

You will be suprised by the sheer number of failed Web2.0 start up out there, there's a great blog discussing social networks, just in case you are interested.

And, let's not forget there are actually quality ebooks (non IM niche) operating in CB.

just my two cents,

Digg is whack dude. I had an account and they randomly deleted it - for reasons best known to them
I haven't bothered with them since.
