What a crazy 48 hours

I missed perhaps one of the most valuable networking events of my career yesterday.

Here's the story…

I'm a member of a group of high level online business owners. This is a group of people that have each reached a monetary milestone and were each personally invited into this elite group. I know this is vague, but the point of this story isn't who THEY are, but rather what happened…

Anyway, one of the key benefits to being a member of this group is occasional 'dinners' where the highest level networking between these powerhouses occurs.

Last night was the first (of hopefully many) of these dinners in New York City.

My plan was to fly up in the early afternoon and back again this morning. Everything was set.

At 8am Monday morning, it began. It started as a whimper from my 7 month old and then expanded to ear crushing screams within 5 minutes.

Being that this has happened before, my wife went through the standard routine of calming him down. Didn't work.

My flight was soon approaching and the baby was hysterical. My wife (who was running a fever and sick herself) was losing it. Not sure what to do, she called the doctor and made an appointment.

No biggie.

And then her fever began to rise. Trouble was approaching.

So for the short recap… I have a hysterical baby and a sick wife.

Then the request came.

"Honey, I REALLY need you to stay home and take the baby to the doctor."

NO! (Ok, that's what I was thinking… but what came out was, 'Are you serious?')

Wrong thing to say.

The request became a demand. While a once in a lifetime networking event would open new doors for me, taking care of my hysterical baby and sick wife (not to mention our other child) was infinitely more important.

Don't worry, the baby is fine. Just has an ear infection. My wife? Yeah, her fever broke.

Me? Well, I have to wait until the next meeting.

Ok… I've vented and no longer feel sorry for myself. :-)

Did you feel the buzz today? Affiliate Elite was released!!! Whoo-hoo!!!

Ok, I'm not all that excited and that last sentence was based in sarcasm.

Can someone explain to me what the big deal about this app is?

Seriously.

Post a comment and even use your affiliate link. If you can sell me on it, I will buy from you.

That's it for now… I need some sleep.

Business opportunities are a plenty. They come and go. Family ALWAYS comes first, especially your children. You did the right thing.

Hey dude, I know about the "kid screaming in pain" thing. Oh boy, do I know about it. You did the right thing. I bet your group will tell you that. Right after they needle you about it. ;)

Affiliate Elite looks like another one of those "Steal their campaign and kick them out of it" programs?

Roger @ 12:17 pm

Funny thing about Affiliate Elite is, that the same guru's who vent in their emails or posts about how the app is stealing all their high level affiliates, are also promoting it using their aff link in those same emails. Selling themselves to make a buck I suppose.
It kind of goes along with those posts that start off with the title "Don't buy it! It's a scam!". Until you read it and realize that the author is also promoting it with a rave review and leaving their aff link to promote.
I can't believe people still do that…it's so 1999ish.

There's my vent ;)

p.s. Good to hear the baby is ok…

Thank God, I read your blog! Now I don't feel guilty about my cynicism.

Where there is adversity, there is opportunity!

I will be coming out with an online opportunity that will cause all those people who are using AffiliateElite to contact us through WHOIS. Then they become our leads!

Affiliate Elite? I was wondering EXACTLY the same thing. I don't get it. I see that I am used as the # 1 example of how people can steal my affiliates. Over 5,000 of them listed by their clickbank nickname. Unfortunately the software doesn't tell anyone which affiliates are making the sales. And whois privacy is prevalent with most affiliates as well. Let's just say I'm not worried.
