Stop the PITCH-FEST Seminars!

OK, I can really use your help to make the following petition viral. Change begins with one person, but it requires action. In this case, it requires the action of many.

Click the following link and complete the form on the petition page if you are tired of pitch-fest seminars.

You all know what I'm talking about… you pay $2000 and get pitched a high dollar 'continuing educational' package by every speaker for the better part of their presentation. You are then told, 'It's all about the networking' and that 2k is a drop in the bucket compared to the business you will receive (nice reframe).

Ok numbskull, we get that… but didn't we also pay 2k to learn something and not to be constantly sold to?

If you want to make a stand to end this practice, the time is now and the place is here.

To make this viral, we need to spread the word about this blog post:

- Blog about this entry to your blogs (use the trackback so I can thank you personally).

- Submit this post to every web 2.0 site you can find (there are several convenient links at the bottom of this post).

- Write articles about it and submit them to EzineArticles.com with a link back to this post.

- Tell your lists about it.

- Start a forum thread on every forum you can find.

- Use the tell-a-friend system on the petition page.

Let's blow this up.

If you have ever been to an internet marketing seminar, then chances are you will WANT to sign this petition right now.

It's time for a change and it all begins here and now.

Nice one Woody ;-)

I agree 100%! Unfortunately it is part of the seminar culture at the moment. I bet there are many people who scraped together there last few dollars to go to one of these, and then they are told they need to buy another $10k worth of stuff to succeed.

I have signed the petition.

Jimmy,

I am more than happy to post some comments here at Woodymaxim. I really enjoy the blog, and I believe myself and Woody have a lot in common…. well, from a marketing perspective we do.

I am much more attractive though ;-)

Can we start a campaign to send Jeff Walker and all his product launch formula customers to the moon (or some place else where they can't mortar us from anymore) as well ?

Signed. I haven't been to an IM seminar yet, but the network Marketing and motivation/growth/development seminars do the same thing.

Hi Woody,

Fortunately, the market is changing and there are a few more people looking for alternatives to the 'pitch-fest' type of seminars.

Since it's inception, the ISS program was one of the first to break the mold.

Best,

I considered creating an anti-internet-marketing-ebook site because of the outrageous claims and sheer dishonesty of many ebook marketers – the douchebag brigade!

Instead, I’ve created a BH blog where I share techniques, tactics and tools without the usual hype.

Nice blog Woody!

I understand the sentiment behind this idea, but I think it could do more harm than good. What a lot of people seem to miss is that a lot of the pitches made at these seminars are actually VERY GOOD offers.

You have to choose your seminars carefully but, just because some of the speakers include a pitch, doesn't make the event worthless.

Don't forget, the speakers are in business as well and have to make a living. If, after an hour of useful discourse, they want to offer me a product or service for a fraction of the price I'd pay online, I'm not going to get upset by it.

No-one's going to force me to buy.

Attending IM events is still one of the best ways to progress online. I fear that a campaign like this will only give people additional excuses for staying locked in their home office.
