PDF Password Removal

I buy a lot of books online… most are .pdf's. I'm an avid reader and I enjoy it.

But I hate reading these books on my laptop… as I believe most people dislike it. I like to print them out and read them in bed, on the john, or in my back yard on a nice day.

But some publishers think that their book shouldn't be printed (for God knows WHAT reason). They think they know me and think that I enjoy straining my eyes to read their latest masterpiece.

They have the audacity to turn off the printing function in Adobe Acrobat.

Now they are just wasting my time.

Do they not know that I (and you) are smarter than they are? Do they not know that we will find a way around this annoyance?

Well, here's the solution to this pesky problem:

PDF Password Remover v2.5 (nope, no affiliate link in this one).

Enjoy,

Woody

Heres an alternate that has been around longer than Acrobat! It's free and without a trial. Two steps for installation though.
Step 1. Install Ghostscript
ftp://mirror.cs.wisc.edu/pub/mirrors/ghost/AFPL/gs853/gs853w32.exe

Step 2.Install GSView
ftp://mirror.cs.wisc.edu/pub/mirrors/ghost/ghostgum/gsv48w32.exe

Open Ghostgum-GSView, goto File|Convert| Find the pdf you wish to unlock and Open.

A dialog will then open asking for device. Select pdfwrite then Ok

A new FileSave box will open, you give the pdf file a new name.

Done, no restrictions.

The pdf format is an open source format definition. This means free to the public. Adobe figured a way to monetize this format with Acrobat. Their security extensions are proprietary, and so ignored by the open source pdf readers. Whoops!

Enjoy,

Randy

It's even easier:
1. Convert PDF to PostScript (use GhostScript or Poppler, for instance)
2. Convert back PostScript to PDF

Password and restrictions are all gone

rnadya should do his homework before trying to bad mouth anyone. While I do like being able to print out my pdfs, the pdf format was created and developed by Adobe.
