Do you lack focus?
I haven't been posting with my regular frequency lately and that's because I was taking some time off. But the REASON I was taking time off was because I began to lack focus on important projects.
It happens to everyone.
Whether its information overload or just too many kick-ass ideas, losing focus is a deal killer.
I found that my lack of focus was causing frustration for lack of progress on my projects, was causing bouts of idleness because I just couldn't 'get into' the project I was working on, and worst of all, it was causing me to take time away from my family.
So what did I do to alleviate this?
First, I prioritized my projects.
Second, I felt as if I was overlooking outsourced opportunities, so I carefully analyzed my projects and developed processes that could be followed by just about anyone (in case you are working, I used odesk.com to find people to manage these processes).
Third, I cancelled what was essentially dead weight. This included projects that lacked long term potential, membership sites that I would never use, and emails from people that I didn't need to look it. I also cleaned my office and boxed up everything that was on my 'I'll get to it soon' list. Basically, my office looks empty now.
From there, I developed a daily schedule that I'm doing my best to follow. I need routines, so it's time to get a new routine in place (and no, this isn't easy at all… it's actually very difficult, but I'm sticking to it).
So if you lack focus as I did, I hope my experience and how I'm attempting to rectify the problem can help you just a bit.
Enjoy,
Woody

Yes! This is a big issue for me, too, and for many others.
I finally developed a "morning routine" that opens several sites in Firefox tabs when I launch it, and I must do those priority items first before I do my "reward routine" which includes checking email and the (gasp) TV schedule for the evening. (I also chopped most tv shows off of my list.)
Great post Woody. Definitely struck a chord.
