Do you believe the proof?
A friend of mine stopped over for a day while traveling from
This guy who will remain nameless is one of the top affiliate marketers in the world. He knows his shit.
During this conversation, we were talking about bullshit proof statements which have been cropping up on just about every sales letter recently. In particular, we were talking about the Adsense check Shoemoney shows on his blog.
What no one seems to ask is, 'How much did you have to spend to make that?’ The same holds true with all of these Clickbank gurus. They are quick to show you their earnings, just not their ad spend.
If you are gullible enough to think any of these numbers are impressive, then I ask you to do this simple exercise:
Create an Adwords account.
Find a program that converts well.
Spend a million bucks promoting that product. Most will convert at 1-2% if their good.
Take your earnings of $1.1 million and brag that you know what you are doing by taking a screenshot of it.
There's your proof. You don't need to tell people that you spent 1m to make that, do you? Of course not…
Next time someone posts a picture of how much they made with Adsense, Clickbank, Commission Junction, CPA Networks, Linkshare… whatever… ask them how much they spent to make that.
More often than not, you will be ignored.

I agree. The paypal snapshots are actually humorous. I have seen them with 4 or 5 different amounts in the columns. Might be testing–might be other products. It's rare when I can tell what it really means.
Anyway I would like to stand up for Shoemoney. I remember reading his article(you may have even reccommended it) and was impressed because it seemed he was very profitable.
I went to double check today so I wouldn't be making a bogus comment and his site says he did it all organically http://www.shoemoney.com/gallery/v/misc/adsensecheck.jpg.html
My question is what do you think the real truth is? Was it organic? Was it PPC with a good profit margin? Or was it "I spent a $130,000 to make $132,000?
I do think spending $100 to make $130 is actually sound business if it can be replicated consistently.
I think a $1.00 in $1.05 out rocks. My point is just be honest with the 'proof'. I think a $100,000 check is great, but what's the REAL profit?

Woody:
you are right.
In a few occassions I pose the questions on " whats the ad spend" for the earning, everyone ignores me.
talk about herd minds.
cheers,
CY
What you forget to mention is that a lot of the clickbank earning shots come from the LIST, not the method being promoted. That is probably a far more common and toxic rip.
ShoeMoney is teh sweetness.
i highly doubt that shoemoney spent 100K to make what his adsense check showed.
Shoemoney doesn't spend that kind of money on advertising. Hist is actual profits. However, I bet the cost of managing his servers eats up most of it.
