Depression, Girls, and Wholesale Domination

While brainstorming this subject line, I just started laughing and said to myself 'That's the one'.

I have some news to pass along today, but thought I would get a bit personal first.

I (and millions of others) battle 'the blues' often. I hate the word depression, because frankly, I've been depressed and this ain't exactly it.

It's more like a lack of motivation, focus, irritability, and so forth.

Most often, this lasts for 1-3 days and after it passes, it's back to normal. The problem is that while it's occuring, I make stupid decisions (like buying stuff I don't need, not working on my business, sleeping, etc).

I've found something that works for me, so I thought I would pass it along.

Being that I'm AWARE of what's happening, I'm ABLE to do something about it. Many people (and myself included up to a few years ago) have no idea what's going on and are oblivious to any problem to begin with. To those people, I wish you the best and hope that awareness comes to you soon.

So here's my routine…

- I try not to eat junk. That's hard, but necessary. I try to eat as light as possible.

- I work 10 minutes and take off 50. Hey, since I have an issue with focus during these times, it's best to have small bursts of focus and do whatever I want the rest of the time.

- I take a short nap (30min) around 2pm.

- I watch a movie… and a comedy at that. This always lifts me up.

- I do my best to not read email. These are the times that I make rash buying decisions and I hate being suckered into every good offer.

Other than that, I just look for motivation to work which is usually a sign this crap is passing.

Onward…

Ryan Deiss's Wholesale Traffic System launches on Thursday. I have a preview copy and can tell you that this course is FANTASTIC. Some real golden nuggets in this one.

Just for the record, Offer Domination has a vistior value of $60+ and a large part of that high VV is the script that comes from the free 'SLO' report when you click on the Wholesale Traffic System link above.

What's that? You don't know what Offer Domination is? Then read the previous post.

And onto girls..

I don't have anything to write about girls, but adding that to a subject line is surely to get male eyeballs here. :-)

Too funny - adding the 'girls' part just to get the guys eyeballs!!

I've discovered the same thing about depression. The key thing I've identified in the last year is to realize what it is when I start getting "the blues" and then I can turn it around in a couple of days. Before I recognized it for what it was it would hang around for weeks. Not cool!!

Once I know it is happening I focus on the positives and do things I enjoy - which helps turn it off in days instead of weeks.

Thanks for the great post! I like your suggestions for dealing with it as well.

Thanks Woody… Guess I'll put down the Coke and candy bar and get back to work… Wait… The Stooges are on… gotta check that first… Hmmm, that nap does sound good.

Just kidding… good post, good advice. I'd suffered the Winter blues recently, and yeah you're right, it's not depression really… A good writer (now gone) was Erma Bombeck… she said… "the good thing about being depressed is you catch up on your sleep".

Adding to your list… think I'll take a walk outside… it's a beautiful (and brisk) spring day.

Hey, Thanks for the heads up on the Wholesale Traffic System–looks good.

Yeah, I think we all battle the "blues" occassionally…best thing to do is laugh–then take a nap!

Also, I want to thank you immensely for the Internship Program===it is awesome!
Had a problem trying to send in the last session—might have missed my deadline…was hospitalized for a couple of weeks. My mail bounced back–OOPS! Sorry for the delay.
Truly a mind-expanding program!
