Amazon S3 is simply amazing

If you run an online business and are not aware of Amazon S3, then listen up.

Imagine tapping into a billion dollar storage infrastructure and paying mere pennies to do so. Would that excite you? Well, it does me.

I create countless videos and often have to stream them from 4 dedicated servers just to manage my bandwidth… or even worse, YouTube.com. But no longer!

Enter Amazon S3 into the picture.

Go read that page to get an idea of exactly what this is (don't be surprised if you feel clueless afterwards… I was, at first).

After I first learned about this, I was excited, but had no way to access it without custom programming. I set this on the backburner anticipating I would never get to it, but something happened on Friday that turned this all around for me.

I was doing some searching on storage solutions when I came upon a piece of software called Data Bucket Pro. In a nutshell, this connects you with Amazon S3! It allows you to upload, generate URLS (for public or private consumption) and more.

All of my videos and files will now be stored there (as well as computer backups) from this point forward.

Woody

PS - The possibilities with this service are endless. You can create a custom app to run an online backup service or a one-click file sharing system.

Video has become a real passion for me, so this is definitely worth looking into. Thanks for the heads up!

If you need some video page designs that'll knock your socks off, check out http://canadianimpact.ca/index2.html - it's really limited, (not a gimmick) so hopefully it's something you can use along with what you're doing.

Cheers!

Hmm, I wonder if you can do something like this with Google Drive, that way it doesn't cost anything. For video I often use blip.tv, it has a MUCH nicer, higher-quality system than Youtube and works well with embedded ads.

If you use FTP software I believe that some providers are bringing out upgrades/modules to allow your FTP software to connect to Amazon sot hats another option.

But yeah, looks fantastic. Definitely gonna give S3 a go!
